What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
We have extensive menus for all kinds of event and we like to draw from these lists to create bespoke menus. Really the essential information we need is a date, time and venue, number of guests, and preferred cuisine. We have very high standards but can work with different budgets - having an idea of budget and service level is very important.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
The best advice I could give a client looking for a caterer is to talk to them about their food. I am the founder of my business and I trained extensively in Michelin-starred restaurants. I know every dish on my menus and am always happy to talk about the client's requirements and what food would work well. Having a conversation about the food and budget is the best way of making progress in the planning stages.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Having spent 7 years in Michelin starred restaurants and working freelance on events on my days off, I was always driving towards running my own event catering business. I am very much involved in all the cooking still and find it hard to tear myself away from the stove. I started WildGoose because I wanted to have a closer relationship to the customer than was possible as a restaurant chef. I love cooking and the part that food plays in celebrating life. Running my own business allows me to put my stamp on everything I do and I love helping people celebrate.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I think Add to Event is a great platform. I have had so much interest since I created my profile and it has really helped me focus my business. We recently catered a small engagement party that was logistically challenging due to the location of the venue. I am very proud to say that despite the hurdles, we had glowing feedback, not only about the high standard of the food but the determination of our chef to go the extra mile in every respect.
