What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For us to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, ideally we need the event date, a brief explanation of the type of event they are hosting, the estimated number of guests and potential venue - also, whether it's an indoor or outdoor event. From this, we can use our experience and expertise to put together a suitable equipment list and design.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would advise the client to check the business has a 5* rating and the correct insurance. I would advise the client have a food tasting, if possible. It would also be beneficial for the client to speak to previous clients personally - to find out a bit more about the supplier.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
After 35 years of being a head chef I decided to pull back a little in 2016 and opened a coffee shop in a business park. I then was asked to cater for large holiday homes, which I was happy to oblige. Next came the requests for street food, so I had a catering trailer made to accommodate anything from burgers to fish and chips and beyond. I now have a very busy diary and no longer thinking about retiring.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I discovered Add to Event and have found their costs reasonable, but the beauty is I can talk directly to the clients and invite them for a tasting. Over the past 2 months, I have done 10 tastings and all have booked.
