What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

There are a few things that are absolutely essential from the get-go. We need the date and time of your quiz event so we can check our availability before getting back to you, and the location of your event - not just the city or town, but also the name of the venue if you've already booked it. We base our pricing on the number of quiz teams you're expecting, but don't worry if you're not sure at this stage, just a rough estimate of the number of people attending will do.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

There are a lot of part time quizmasters out there, but we've been running all sizes of quiz, full time and professionally, for 15 years. So there's no type of quiz we haven't catered for - charity quizzes, corporate quizzes, PTA quizzes, personal quizzes for birthdays and other celebrations, and many more. We'd advise asking any potential provider what their experience is. For example, have they ever run a big quiz for international guests? Do they bring their own equipment? Are they familiar with working in a corporate environment or workplace? Do they have Public Liability Insurance? It's also worth asking for testimonials from satisfied customers - we have hundreds on file!

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

We started Brain Men 15 years ago as a group of friends who had been going to, and presenting, weekly pub quizzes for years. We knew the difference between a great quiz and an average one was often down to the quizmaster, and came to realise that quizmasters mostly write questions to prove they are the brainiest person in the room. But we knew that the joy of quizzing lies in being able to get the answers, and that big, one-off quiz events, as opposed to weekly pub quizzes, are more about having fun social occasions and networking - all with a competitive edge! And so Brain Men was born. Over the years we've attracted a loyal base of returning clients who appreciate our entertaining, professional quizmasters, fun questions, and absolute commitment to ensuring that it all goes smoothly and that everyone has a good time.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We had an amazing time running a quiz recently for a large chain of estate agents in Birmingham, who booked through Add to Event. They were all up for it - and so were we! As well as the quiz itself, which included our usual elements of film and music clips, on-screen scoreboard, and great, fun questions, we even ran games with spot prizes. We've never seen our quizmaster run around a large venue so fast! We had a lovely email from them the day after thanking us for the 'fabulous time!'. So yes, we'd thoroughly recommend Add to Event!
