Interrupt the Routine provides a London-based virtual events company with professional Quiz hosts, mixologists (for our virtual cocktail hours) and actors (for our virtual murder mysteries). We want your event to be a success!

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To provide a full quote, we would need the event date, timings, venue address, a rough number of people expected, and as much detail as possible in terms of the event you want (e.g. "We would like a Harry Potter Quiz with a 15-point music/voice round and a quickfire buzzer round. If you could come in costume that would be great, and we are happy to put £50 towards this, so please add this in to the quote").

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

It's always good to talk through timings and expectations of what you want from the event. With Quizzes and Murder Mysteries, for example, 2 hours is about the maximum time you want to spend delivering, as more than that can risk even those really engaged from falling out of love with it. Meaningful use of the time is what we specialise in, with excellent hosting and performance to include your guests. It's important to look at reviews and why people like what you're providing, whether that's consistent across the board, or whether it's a bit hit and miss. If you want a Quiz for a wedding, for example, have they got a review from that particular scenario, or can you ask the question of what a company has done before to make that type of event special.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Interrupt the Routine is a company that was started by Rob & Nick in 2014, two intrepid performers and seasoned hosts who basically wanted to make people happy. There are amazing people committed to bringing about world peace, and eradicating poverty, and we do plenty of community/charity work to support those causes, but what we thought we could do, and what we still love doing, is using OUR skills to deliver bespoke events for our clients. That ranges from the planning of a Georgian-era Murder Mystery from scratch, in full costume, for the NED Hotel in London to setting up a Cocktail Bar with themed cocktails for a client's 50th birthday. We love what we do, we train our wonderful team to learn and enjoy as we ourselves do, and we go out and make people happy!

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We have been really pleased with the reach we've had through Add to Event, and our general growth is very much accompanied by and in-line with leads generated through here. We like the variety, and have attended 1000-people conferences to doing an all-female quiz at a well-to-do London home for two 6-people teams located in separate rooms.

We got our first ever Wedding Quiz through Add to Event, which was really nice, as we've been doing this for a long time, so it's good to still have firsts in our business.

It was for a wonderful couple, one of whose family were all English-speakers, and the other who had quite a few Italian members of the family. It gave us a chance to put together a great playlist of Anglo-Italian background music, and a range of questions that covered both cultures, but were inclusive and gettable for both sides. One of our hosts is bilingual so it was great to give him that event to host, and he did a smashing job. It was an opportunity to feel part of the festivities, to make someone's special day even more special because Interrupt the Routine could deliver a quiz for them.

We came away with glowing reports and an absolutely wonderful experience to re-apply to the next wedding we get asked to do, and the fact we were part of two people's wedding day was very special for us as a company, so thank you to Add to Event.
