Jim Jams & Dreams provide indoor sleepover teepees, luxe picnics and kids' corners for weddings and events in York, surrounding areas and East Riding. They provide set up, all themed props, fairy lights, airbeds, sheets, fleece blankets and additional extras such as party bags and treat boxes and return the day after to clear everything away, as if they've never been there!
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For us to provide a quote to a potential customer we firstly require the event date and postcode as this will determine if we have availability and cover the area. The number of party attendees for sleepover tents and luxe picnics and the age of the children so we can determine what them they may like.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Ask the provider if they have a website and social media presence with reviews that you can read from previous customers. This is very important so you can see the reputation they have built. Look at what themes they provide and ask for examples of their setups. If they say they do a mermaid theme, have they actually done a set-up so you can see what it looks like. Look for quality, it's not just about the price. You get what you pay for.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I have always been very creative and absolutely love organising parties and events (all my friends will tell you how organised I am). I produced a teepee sleepover for my daughter's 10th birthday and she and her friends loved it and I hugely enjoyed creating it. A couple of months later Jim Jams & Dreams was born. I love researching different themes and colour schemes to come up with new ideas and putting the finishing touches to bring a set-up together.
