Ed Dibbles Street Eats prepare authentic, international street food style dishes, filled with an amazing array of flavours, textures and colours. With their gazebo and portable cooking equipment, they can set-up for all manner of celebrations at a variety of venues, both indoors and outdoors. They suggest the questions to ask to make sure you get the service you want from them or a similar provider.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
To provide an accurate quotation we need to know the event date. From there we need to know the venue (indoor or outdoor), ease of access and any facilities they may or, more importantly, not have on-site. We also need to know the number of guests including and other casual staff or performers that need feeding. The time of service and expected duration is also important for our staffing levels and arrival time. Also, are there any times when we cannot set up or start to cook due to other activities taking place on the day. Nothing we do is set in stone so we can be very flexible with the many menus we offer. If you have a favourite dish then ask, as we probably have a record of it somewhere in the 1000s of recipes we have compiled over the years. Tell us about your prefered style or region of food and leave the rest to us.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
As a client, you need to know that the provider, know what they are doing and how they prepare and cook your food. Don't be afraid to ask questions, as they should be happy to put your mind at ease. Check their insurance and reviews. It is important for you to know exactly what you are getting and that you are getting exactly what you want.
From our point of view, we want your day to be both unique and memorable. As such we prepare everything from scratch, use our spice blends, marinades and homemade sauces. We also cook "live" in front of you and your guests so you know the food is as it's best and served fresh. Nothing will ever come pre-prepared out of a jar or tin or off a supermarket or wholesalers shelf - guaranteed. By using our equipment, of which we have an extensive range, we can cater to the many bespoke menus we write. Check out our numerous reviews on Facebook or TripAdvisor.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
We are a family of self-diagnosed 'foodies'; we were foodies before it was cool to be a foodie. Pride, passion, love and dedication are central to what we do. So, before you invite us along to your event we thought you might like to know how it all started. In our previous profession, we were lucky enough to travel the globe building custom exhibition stands. It was just an excuse to try some of the best street food that Asia, America and Europe have to offer. When we weren't travelling, we were at home recreating the recipes that had been gathered on our latest trip. Eventually, we traded packing lists for ingredients lists, added to the already enviable collection of kitchen equipment, and set about bringing the street food of the world to our corner of the West Country. As they say, the rest is history...
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
We have not been on this platform long enough to procure a booking, as we signed up just before COVID-19 hit and the industry is in lockdown. However, from what we see, we are getting good clear concise information from the client requests and a lot of the information we require to formulate a quotation. More so than on other platforms. For that alone, we have been recommending Add to Event to fellow caterers we are in touch with, in the same situation as ourselves. We are sure that when the industry re-opens that we will get quality bookings, and look forward to working with a growing professional platform that mirrors our ethos.
