JBL Creative specialises in high-quality video creation for a variety of clients. They also provide high-end photography to suit multiple needs from business events to personal ones.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For JBL Creative to provide a comprehensive quote to the customer, we require the date of your event, a brief description of the event you would like us to attend, an estimated number of guests, the location of the venue, if the event is an indoor or outdoor and any other special requests to consider for the work required. Once we have this information we can then generate a rough plan based on your info, form our kit list and then get back to you with a quote tailored to you.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
First and foremost I would advise seeking a company that shares the same goals as you do. Ask about their passion and what their favourite type of photo and video to shoot is. That way if your project is similar to their style you are more likely to get their best work and a real genuine passion for your project also. If you are keen for drone footage or really cinematic shots you may be keen to know if the person has the latest gimble for steady shoots, a high-end cinematic drone or cameras that can cope with high fps to get really crispy slow-mo. Asking all these questions and really getting down to the person's creative interests will really tell you about the experience and the footage or photos you will receive from your potential booking.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Spending the first 15 years of my working life in outdoor pursuits teaching rock climbing to British National standard set me up for a love of the outdoors and teaching all ages how they can be outside and embrace all it has to offer.
After competing in climbing and travelling to do so for a while it was time for me to try new things. I pursued my passion for cooking, becoming a chef for over 3 years, cooking to 3 rosette standard, then outdoors began to call again.
Finding the Forestry Commission at the time, now Forestry England was looking for a Community Ranger I applied and managed to secure the role. Looking after public interaction, the community and social media creation and implementation covering the area of Exmoor and the Quantock hills.
However now with a young family I wanted to command my own time and really turn my passion for film and media into a job, so JBL Creative was formed in May of 2022.
That’s it a whirlwind tour of where I came from. I am down to earth, chilled out and are here to work with you to make both our dreams and ideas come to life.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I got a job with Cazcabel Tequila after speaking with one of their reps after submitting a quote for an Add to Event request they had place. The job was in 2 days and the only reason I managed to get access to this sort of opportunity is due to the pairing that Add to Event can do. It cost me 5 credits and then I had all the contact numbers and info I needed to submit a quote and be able to talk to the people about what I could offer them.
The job was so much fun, shooting a cocktail-making masterclass and brand showcase. I met some amazing people and also had a great opportunity to do some networking with the host venue as well. This was one of the most fun shoots I had ever been on, and also may now lead to more work for me with the brand, their partners and the venue also. This has really shown me that event shoots are something that I really love doing and will aim to do more of in the future.
