What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to provide a comprehensive quote, it's great to have as much information as possible; although we appreciate this may not always be possible. The event date, start time and expected numbers are the core basics along with an indication of the type of catering and serving style that is preferred. A waiter-served menu will always incur greater costs due to the level of staffing required for the service, whereas an informal buffet-style service will reduce costs for those working to a budget.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

It is important to ask questions to ensure the provider has the expertise and experience to offer the quality of catering that the customer is expecting to source. Some providers have specific areas of expertise whilst others will offer `across the board` menus and services. This can be a real asset if the customer is looking for one provider for everything, but for other clients, a more specialized experience could be sought. Ask to see photos of events, check reviews and feedback on social media platforms/websites and ask as many questions as you feel are needed. A good provider will always find the time to respond and this is a good indication of how important your business is to them.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Jason is chief chef and business owner.
Since an early age, Jason has been passionate about food, focusing his entire career around the restaurant and catering industry. An experienced head chef with strong links to the Hampshire and West Sussex regions, Jason has built a network of trusted independent suppliers producing delicious local produce to support his business; allowing him to produce innovative and inspiring menus for all occasions. Tasting as good as it looks!
Whilst notably gaining a reputation for Hog roasts, spit roasts and BBQs, Jason also specialises in Authentic Big Pan/Street food dishes such as paella and chilli.
Working alongside him as the event and business manager is Angie. She has over 15 years experience in both wedding and event management under her belt along with extensive knowledge of the catering industry. She loves to work with clients to create tailored events and has created some quirky and fun marketing material to support the growing business.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

Add to Event has been a great portal for us to build and develop the family-run business.
We love the fact that no two weeks are the same and the reward for us is seeing so many happy faces and receiving great feedback for the catering and service. For us going the extra mile is the most important part of the job and we often have to `think outside the box` (especially where the weather is concerned!) We always have a box of goodies in the boot of the car which includes umbrellas, a change of clothing, spare linen and lots of other bits and bobs! At a recent wedding we catered for in Chichester, West Sussex we helped to set up an adhoc photo booth for our lovely bride and groom when their booth company had let them down.
Angie went home to grab some party hats and fun props that she had boxed up along with a backdrop. With the help of the best man and a supply of blu tack from the goody box in the car, the guests were able to take their own photos that were later shared with the bride and groom.
We think that Add to Event is an important business partner and gives us additional business within our specified radius and in the challenging times that the Covid epidemic provoked, it is great to see that there is a light at the end of the tunnel!
