What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

Want to have your wedding your way? A little bit different from the norm? Then a celebrant may be able to provide just what you're looking for.
Although not legally able to marry you (yet) in England and Wales, a celebrant can lead your wedding ceremony anywhere, anytime and anyhow you want. So consider doing the legal 'paperwork' in a registry office first (we can talk about ways to do that as easily and reasonably as possible) and then let your imagination run wild as you plan your dream wedding ceremony.
To get a good idea of costs, think about what type of wedding ceremony you want, where it will be and when, and if you want to do things like rehearsals too. How long would you like the ceremony to last - do you want something that involves lots of family members, or just you two?
Whilst you don't need to have the details pinned down to get a price, some idea of the logistics of the day will help to provide a quotation that's as close to final as possible.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

My best advice - speak to a number of celebrants first before making your choice, If you can, meet them - or at least have a video call.
Don't just choose based on price. The ceremony, the exchange of vows is what this is all about. Making promises to each other. Let someone you like, trust and who sees things the same way as you do, help you to make your day perfect.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I became a celebrant after 30+ years in a commercial role for a design company. My favourite part by far was the people I worked with, my clients, I loved the consultative approach to what I did - listening to what someone wanted or needed and then finding a way to make that happen.
Often at funerals, I'd be disappointed that not enough time was spent talking about the person who had died. Too much time for me, was spent talking about God. I then attended a humanist funeral and was so impressed, I had to find out more. And there started my interest in celebrancy.
I'm not a humanist celebrant myself - I am just about people and love. My ceremonies are about the people and how THEY want to do things. Theirs is the only agenda I work to.
