What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
Date. Time. Purpose! Knowing the date of the event means we're able to check our availability straight away - there's no point wasting your time if it's a date that we can't do! Time - knowing the timing of your event means we're able to provide a tailored quote on the actual number of hours you'd like us to perform (instead of flat-rate fees). Purpose - knowing the purpose of your event and where you're holding it is key to ensure that we can build a tailored quote around your event, as well as ensuring it is within our service area.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Top tip - ask your DJ what makes them special and what enables them to stand out from the crowd. With DJs for example, all of them will be able to play music (you'd hope!) and all of them should have some kind of flashy lights. The right DJ for your event however will want to learn as much as possible about your hopes and dreams for the event so that they can tailor their set to make your big day, the best it can possibly be. Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
SW11 DJ is a business born out of passion! I've been DJing since I was 18 and started SW11 DJ to make my dream a reality. Having been to so many weddings and events over the years, I wanted to create something different. Something where the client comes first, and guest satisfaction is the only measure of success. There's only one real thing we want when performing and that's a full dance floor! We also love getting to know clients and take it as a huge privilege when they trust us to perform at their big event. We don't do standard or template set lists, and ALWAYS tailor our set lists to match the client, event, demographic and mood of the floor. I also have a HUGE love for geeky equipment so we have an awesome collection of lighting, including strobe lights, UV lights, laser lights and even ones with moving heads! If you're wondering... the business name 'SW11 DJ' came about when I lived in London (SW11 was my postcode) and has stuck ever since! We cover all events in Essex, London, Suffolk, Norfolk, Hertfordshire and Kent! We also travel further afield so let us know if you'd love to have us!
