Here they give some experienced advice on choosing an entertainer for your party.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order to provide the best quote to a customer, firstly I need to know the type of event you are putting on. Is it a birthday party, wedding, or other celebration? For children's parties It's good to know the number of children attending, and a rough age range of the children. If you have the venue booked in, I will need to know the location and the date of the event.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Recommendations are usually a great way to see if an entertainer is right for your party. Most professional magicians and children's entertainers will have a website and Facebook page where you are able to see pictures and videos of them performing. The best advice I can give is pick someone who you like! They will be entertaining your guests at your party after all. It's important to know how long they have been performing to get an idea of their experience. For children's parties, it's nice to know how they will structure the party - what games will they play with the children, what kind of music will they play and on what kind of equipment.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I started off as an entertainer from a young age. Performing in school shows, then later becoming an entertainer at a well known holiday camp. I was then lucky enough to travel the world on cruise ships, entertaining. While I was working as an assistant cruise director for cruise liners I refined my magic act and was able to perform in front of thousands of people. I've been a professional magician and children's entertainer for just over 10 years, which means for most of my adult life I have been in this business.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I pride myself in making every single event special, that's why I treat them as if they were my own celebration. My most recent party was a repeat booking from a customer I had through Add to Event. I performed last year for their daughters birthday and she wanted me to come back. After the show, her mother and father thanked me for coming back saying that their daughter had asked for "The funny man" to come back. She was delighted to see me again - It's moments like this that make me really love my job.
