T’s Fried Scoop provides a combination of hot and cold desserts in one! They deep-fry ice cream, which is an amazing ball of ice cream that is dipped in batter and when it's placed in the fryer, it forms a crispy, fluffy layer similar to a doughnut/waffle. Yum! What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For us to provide a comprehensive quote to our lovely customers, we will need the following:
- A date of the event
- Timings of the event (ideal time you would like us to set up and end time of the event)
- A quick brief of the event e.g. birthday with no theme or wedding with samba theme
- Any other specifics about the event e.g. birthday for a 10-year-old boy
- Attendance e.g. 250 guests
- Venue is indoor or outdoor
- If there is access to electricity
- Location of venue
- Allergens
- Diet preferences
From this information, we can make this a really great experience for you and come up with something special :)
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Ask a lot of questions! Does the price includes travel (as some vendors add extra charges after they have given you your quote), make sure you make it clear what setup/theme you are after. Ask for visuals! Ask to see a digital or real-life mock-up of how their equipment looks e.g. a 3m x 3m gazebo, so you can see how it's decorated.
- Ask if they take a deposit (and how much) or full money - Check the refund policy too!
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
During uni, I had loads of business ideas, but I was told it would not work, funny enough, some ideas have been done by others and have been majorly successful. I was studying History at the time and knew I did not want to be working in a building.
I always wanted to be in the food industry because I always liked the busy atmosphere and I had relatives in the US, who ran restaurants. But, I also wanted to make money to pay off my loan on a car I took out to travel back and forward to uni.
My first job was with a healthy crisps start-up company. I was a field executive and I loved it, as I was out and about using my personality to sell in the product. However, I left and moved onto another start-up company and lasted only 3 months, as it was male-dominated and I felt as if I did not belong there.
A couple of months later, I ended up working for a cookie dough company. I loved it because I was selling again, but I still felt I could be doing more.
I always believed there was a problem with the companies/jobs, but it was me, I was the problem. I was not meant for working for someone else, sitting still at a laptop or being professional. So finally I started my own business, T’s Fried Scoop, which sells deep fried ice cream!
