What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
In order to provide a comprehensive quote, the most important thing is the timings of the event. This enables me to calculate journey time to and from the event and the number of tracks required. I also like to know the genre required and a range of artists. Preparing a set is very important to me.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
The advice I would give to a customer looking to hire a DJ is as follows: 1) know the genre of music you require. As a DJ, I like to know beforehand so I can prepare a set to meet the needs of the customer and their guests. It may be that the DJ doesn't have the songs you require on the night, but with enough notice, they can purchase the required tunes. 2) explore a range of quotes. It is useful to weigh up what each DJ offers and whether they are affordable and flexible. 3) Spotify is not compatible with most DJ software. I like to mix music and DJ software is required for this.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
As a primary school teacher, I am up to date with current music. I started the business as I realised that I could provide a good service and cater to many different people's taste, not just children at my own school disco (where it all began in 2015). I am very passionate about music and love bringing enjoyment to others at a suitable price. The transition of mixing is something I really enjoy.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I have yet to DJ my first event with Add to Event. I have a few lined up from this site in the next few weeks so will provide feedback as soon as they are completed. I have had lots of success on other websites and hope it can continue on here. The future is bright.
