Cloud And Sun DJ services

Cloud And Sun DJ services cover all types of event and have been DJing since 2000 and can mix music like the top pro-DJs! Read about their story and also some detailed advice for when looking to book a DJ for an event.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

The quote part is simple, as long as the distance from the base is normal (within 30 miles). I have a simple hourly rate of £60.00 apart from wedding gigs which are a little more at £350.00 for up to five hours deejaying time. I don't charge anything for setting uptime. I simply charge hourly from when the equipment is set up.

There is an extra charge for uplighters, but many venues have them installed, so I don't get asked much for them these days. Things like extra bass cabs, smoke machine, bubble machine, radio microphone are free, but you must let me know, as they do not come with the standard set up.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Look for someone that seems dedicated. Make sure they have a decent website, that they are insured and their equipment is tested (portable appliance test - PAT for short).

Check out their reviews. I don't have any on this website as I type this. I am new to this site, but I have tonnes of great reviews on my own site. I am on several directory sites like this one, so you can imagine how impossible it would be to get customers to write reviews for all of them plus my own site. Therefore I only ask for reviews on my own site. If one could upload their own reviews onto this site, it would be good. It's not unheard of to be able to do that.

Enough texting! Phone them up. This has a two-pronged advantage. 1. If they answer or get back to you soon, It's a good sign. If they take forever, it's often a sign to avoid them. 2. You can get a feel for what they are like without having to feel obligated to book. We all know it's not a booking until you say so, so don't worry about a hard-sell.

Ask what the standard show includes. I put almost everything in the standard disco set up, but many DJs have different size packages in order to make more money out of you. Like the basic model or the "all-singing" sports or luxury coupe. Myself, I tend to follow the Japanese model of "Give the customer all you can at the basic price". It's less confusing for everyone and more ethical I feel.

Get a price that includes everything. Make sure there aren't any hidden extras down the line.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I have been a musician for around 14 years old. I got fed up of being in bands that split up all the time and wondered what I could do in music that didn't require a band. I am working on a solo piano-vocal set as I type this, but at the time I didn't feel confident to do that. So I recalled how I was always the one at any party who gravitated to the stereo or the jukebox to choose the what music was going to be played. I even used to be that person operating the record player at my youth club, so you could say I was a DJ before I was a musician.

I've always loved choosing what to play at a party because I have a good ear for it and I'm not great at hanging around and having nothing to do!

Whether or not I ever take the piano-vocal act on the road (I have already once) I don't know, but either way, I'm not giving up being a DJ. I like it too much. Just don't ask me to do both at the same time, as I've not got a big enough van yet!

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I've been doing this job since the year 2000, so I have lots of experience. I have just got a booking through this site, but I haven't done it yet as I type this. But it went well and the system is a lot better than other similar sites that really rip you off and drain your budget as a supplier. It's on August 3rd and It's a social club. They have told me that if I'm good they will include me as a regular supplier. we'll see!
