What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

Firstly we need to know the event date and the potential siting for our van. Knowing the number of anticipated guests and the time and length for service is also important to make sure everyone is served in a timely manner. We will then ask about dietary restrictions and menu choices together with a budget to put together a quotation.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I would always advise picking up the phone to speak to the provider - you will quickly get a feeling for whether they are right for your event. Discussions can be had over the phone that throw up potential problems or opportunities to make the food the star of the event. Know what you would like to achieve at the event - for instance can the provider cope with serving 100 guests in an hour?

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Made without Gluten was born out of frustration that I, as a coeliac, could never find any food to eat at outdoor events which would also put pressure on a day out for my family as they felt guilty enjoying food that I could not. We are great foodies and wanted to provide an excellent product which could be enjoyed by all which we appear to be achieving judging by our reviews. We also love talking to people!

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We joined Add to Event this year and it has proved an excellent choice for us, having provided many quality bookings already with a number on the calendar for next year and the year after! It is hard to pick a favourite from the ones we have done so far but this last Saturday at a village conker championships sums up what the job is about for us - food drawing together a community and creating a buzz and an atmosphere. Whenever we are at an event where there are other caterers, the conversation always turns to event booking and Add to Event is the platform of choice.
