What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order for me to provide a comprehensive quote, I need to know the items that are required, Colours scheme for the day, the wedding venue and the date of the wedding. With this information and using my wealth of knowledge and experience of wedding flowers I will be able to put together the quote.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

When looking for a florist for your wedding, check that your florist actually knows and has experience of working at wedding venues. Get a list of wedding venues where they have worked, most if genuine will be more than happy to list some of the beautiful venues that they have worked at. Just because they may not have worked at the particular venue where you are getting married, look for venues that they have worked at that have similar characteristics. Ask the florist for images of previous work focusing on images of the actual wedding day and look how the flowers are presented and held together after they have been handled throughout the day after all anyone can take a good picture of a bouquet before it has been handled and passed around for a few hours.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I started Fays Flowers (Gloucester) really by accident. I had always had an interest in flowers and floristry so I decided to do attend a couple of local flower arranging classes. My instructor was Katherine Kear who is a world-renown florist and has worked at some of the largest venues and for some very important people, she had also been a big part of the Chelsea flower shows. She took me aside after a class and told me that I have a real talent and that I should think about getting some certification. This scared me as I am dyslexic but she convinced me that it was the right thing to do. So 2 years and 2 certificates later a friend asked me if I would make her daughters bouquet, I reluctantly agreed. However, it didn't stop at just the bouquet and I ended up doing all the flowers for her wedding and the compliments and commendations that I got from everyone was amazing. That was where it all started.

As I am new to Add to Event I am looking forward to my first booking soon and hoping this platform will help my business grow.
