What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
We look for a date, location and number of guests. From there, we enjoy getting involved in tailoring the event to meet the customer's needs rather than offering a strict package. Half the fun is working closely with the customer and getting it just right so that it meets the idea they had in their mind at the outset
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Ask about the price of the drinks! I've been to many events where the happy couple think they have a great bar, but the guests are reluctant to pay exorbitant prices for run of the mill drinks. Make sure your supplier cares enough about what you want and is willing to go into the details - and then sticks to them.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
We are in the third year of operating Nelly's Bar, and we are going from strength to strength as our brand and reputation grow. We love a party, especially a wedding, and this was an excellent way to get involved more closely. There is nothing better than working with a happy couple in the months leading up to an event, making sure all of their ideas are incorporated, and then delivered on the big day. Getting such positive feedback after the event always gives a warm feeling that we have added to a special day.
