What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
To enable us to provide a quote to a customer we need to know the event date, a brief explanation of the type of event they are hosting, the estimated number of guests, the potential venue & location, whether it's an indoor or outdoor event. If indoor is the event on the ground floor or upstairs if upstairs is there a lift that can be utilised. From this, we can provide an accurate cost to provide suitable equipment for the event.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Ask the provider about previous experience in providing the entertainment you are looking for. There are a lot of DJs around, not all will be suitable for you. Also, do they have public liability insurance? Without this, some venues may refuse the entertainer from even setting up. How frustrating would this be for your special day? This simple check also highlights people that are not really running a business and may let you down last minute. Also, check out the entertainer's website, a serious entertainer will have spent time in building the business and this will show in the quality of the website. It will probably show the type of equipment they are using as well. A good entertainer will not show up with budget equipment which could fail on the day of the event. When comparing quotes, don't always go for the cheapest option.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Sound Revolution Mobile Disco started over 10 years ago as I have a passion for music along with a passion for good sound and lighting systems. It started as a hobby which grew quickly into a business. Sound Revolution started doing events for the local pub and word spread quickly and before I knew it I was out providing entertainment for parties around the South West. I prefer private parties like weddings and special birthdays including children's parties. But I also cover public events from time to time. I receive positive feedback from my clients and work hard to build a great music playlist to make the client's special event go off with a bang.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I have just started using Add to Event. I was sceptical at first, but I have secured a few bookings for my initial small outlay. I was a bit overwhelmed with the amount of enquires to start with. Then I adjusted my settings for more local bookings which has worked fantastically for me. It has actually meant I have decreased my fuel bill and carbon footprint while still getting the jobs I enjoy doing. Would I recommend Add To Event? Yes, I don't quote on every job, but when I do the feedback has been good.
