What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

Times, Date and Venue only!
I charge standard hourly rates in my service area so for the QUOTE I only need timings and to check that I'm available. Everything else is part of the service so it's not necessary for the quote. However, I always ask for:
A discussion about music I love playlists, even as just a guide to your tastes.
The venue details so I know what lighting system and PA will work for the space.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

It's hard to know what you are getting by reading a profile like this. I advise people to read reviews and ask for sample mixes. There are a lot of amateurs offering services for very low prices and there are plenty of nightmare stories to go with them! If an amateur gets a bad review all they have to do is change their DJ name and move on to the next person. So choose someone with a good reputation!

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I've been DJing at parties since I was a teenager and was getting requested by word of mouth so much it seemed the only logical step! I have been DJing at clubs and pub venues since 2002. Last year I bought a £3k sound system and expanded my service and coverage, with great success and 5-star reviews.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

Although I've not had any bookings yet (I joined today!) I love the Add to Event platform. It's really easy to use and to get in touch with clients. The prices are reasonable and I have already been sent 6 leads that fit the criteria. As an events professional on my day job, I will be using the service as a customer very soon too!
