What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For me to provide an accurate quote to a prospective client; ideally I would need the date of your event, the postcode for the venue where the event will take place, a brief description of your event, i.e is it a stand-alone quiz or part of a bigger event e.g. a charity fundraiser, also the approximate number of guests; how many teams that might be and the age range if known. If you know how many quiz rounds you would like that's always helpful, although I can always suggest this, Once I have these details, I can then put a bespoke quote together with suggestions for quiz topics and any other information that may be useful.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would always ask a prospective Quiz Master, how they intend to run your event, how will the rounds be marked and whether there will be a break at some point. Also ask the provider whether their quote includes return travel, if there is any additional equipment required to be provided, e.g a microphone or PA system and how much (if any) is the deposit. The provider should be able to give you all this information in a concise reply to your question.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
itoast2you was formed out of a passion for running events whilst serving in the military. Much of my work was originally as a Master of Ceremonies for Weddings, Charity Fundraisers and Corporate Events, but looking to diversify and being an avid participant in quizzes for many years, I decided to have a go at running my own and haven't looked back. It's great fun to feed off the energy in the room and it's always good to add a bit of drama when announcing the results at the end. My aim is always to run my quizzes with humour, enthusiasm and spirit so that those taking part to enjoy it as much as I do.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
All my quiz bookings have come through Add to Event and I would be very happy to recommend their services and platform without hesitation. Some of my bookings have been one-off events and others have turned into regular ones.
If I had to pick one it would be for a pub near Southampton who wanted to start running quizzes on a Sunday night. There was a small but dedicated group for the first couple, but the Christmas event really took off and they had to squeeze in a couple of extra tables. I'm now working with the venue every month, and teams are being encouraged to 'reserve a table' to avoid disappointment, all thanks to an enquiry through Add to Event.
