What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order for us to provide a comprehensive quotation for a client, we would need the date of the event, the expected number of guests for the party and the preferred venue. In addition to this, it would be good to know whether the client wishes to have a standard pay as you go bar or if they wish to put some money behind the bar for their guests. It is also very useful to know if the client has any specific requests, for example, a specific brand of lager or particular spirit that their guests enjoy above anything else? Finally, it is better if we know what the access is like to the venue, with regards to set up and take down for the event.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I would always suggest that a potential client arranges a meeting with their preferred providers of any service, as it is important that both supplier and client understand each other's needs, in order for a the correct service to be offered to a guest. A professional supplier will not object to travelling to meet a client, even on a weekend or during the evening. I would ask if the supplier has any miscellaneous costs that may not be clear at the beginning of the quotation process and I would confirm how and when any payments are due from the client. I would also ask what was refundable in the event of a cancellation. Finally, I would seek to ensure that the bar provider uses premium brands and includes proper glassware and works with professional staff on the day.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I started Neptune Bars after working with a marquee company that offered it's own bar service and I was asked to get the bar ready for service, only to be told that I didn't have to worry about getting ice and garnishes for the customers, as the bar was not be charged to the client? I believe that the bar and the service should replicate the facilities you would expect in a high street bar and the customer service should be second to none. It is important for me to know that my clients have very pleased with the service they received from Neptune Bars and that they go on to provide excellent references and referrals for future business.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I have had several bookings through Add To Event, although a booking I had in January 2020 for an engagement really did stand out for me. I visited the client at their home to discuss their needs and came away with a complete understanding of their plans. We arrived early on the day to set up the bar and helped the client organise some issues that they hadn't considered.
The party was fantastic, with over 100 thirsty guests, all of whom were polite and a real pleasure to serve. We received a fantastic piece of feedback from the client and two excellent reviews, a result of which lead to one other booking coming in almost immediately.
