Gin Jam Bar are a Mobile Events Bar with rustic charm, covering all of the UK. Here they give some detailed advice on what to ask your potential mobile bar supplier and how they started the business.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, we would require the date, time, location of the venue, the type of venue, whether it is inside or outside, the number of attendees and the minimum spend per head / expected to spend per person. We would also require the type of alcoholic drinks that they would like us to serve and whether plastic or actual glassware would be required.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

The first thing you should do is pick a bar that you love the look of and that you know your guests will also love, have a chat with the bar owners to see if they are friendly, engaging and whether they would be an asset to your event.

Request the bar's drinks menu to see if it serves the drinks you would like and if not, ask if this can be altered to suit your event. The price list, is of course, also really important as you wouldn't want your guests to be unhappy with the price of drinks as this can make a huge difference to the enjoyment of your event.

Check the glassware that drinks will be served in and straws (paper or plastic) as this will have an impact on the quality of experience.

And finally, but probably most importantly, check that the venue you are hosting will allow the type of bar that you are hiring.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

We are Gin Jam a couple converted horsebox. Gin Jam was converted by ourselves, Tom & Emily (a twenty-something-year-old couple with a love of travel, good food and of course gin), in our own back garden and I can tell you converting a horsebox doesn’t come with an instruction manual but long days, nights and weekends paid off when we started seeing our vision come to life.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

Add to Event has got our business up and running, and allowed us to engage with customers on a platform that encourages trust and good communication between the suppliers. Our most memorable booking through Add to Event was a 30th birthday party that we hosted our Gin Jam Bar for. We had a great time with the customer and delivered an excellent service throughout the night, they liked us so much that they booked us in for the following year a couple of weeks after.
