What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
To make your event really shine I need to know the number of guests attending - it helps me factor in the amount of sound equipment I’ll need to supply - the more guests, the more powerful speakers etc.
I also need to know the hours you’d like me to perform for, plus a guide to the type of music that will get you, your family and your friends dancing - I’m more than happy to take a playlist with around 20-30 songs so it gives me a pointer on what your favourite party tunes are.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would advise having a conversation with your mobile DJ before booking them to ask about where they have played before and to find out if they are insured and have their equipment electrically certified - you don’t want them to be rejected by the venue when they arrive at your event because their paperwork is not in order.
Also, discuss with them the music and any particular songs you wish to be played - if you do T they may be unprepared to play your favourites on the night.
Finally, ask for photos of the equipment they are using as this may be inappropriate for the venue you have booked eg. Smoke machines are not permitted by many venues as they set off the smoke alarms; low ceilings can make some sound and light rigs unusable.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I’ve been a DJ since I was at school and kept this up throughout university and into adult life.
The main reason I provide a mobile disco service is so I can provide an amazing experience to everyone who I play for - getting everyone dancing and helping to make some amazing memories.
I’ve been to far too many events where the DJ has been scruffy, disinterested and using outdated kit - I want to change that one gig at a time…. And you can help me on that quest!

I’ve played various events through Add to Event and after years in the Industry really welcome the clear briefs provided by clients - I like to arrive at a venue with a clear plan on how to get the party going and this app helps that process.
