What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
First of all, I need the date and address of your event. Sounds obvious but some people forget! Secondly, I need to know the numbers of people. For a quiz, the expected number of teams is always useful. I would rather have spare pictures and answer sheets than not enough.
Finally, it's always good to have a reason for the event - a birthday party, a corporate fun day, a Christmas party??
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
What experience has the potential quiz host had? What kind of quiz events do they normally run? Are they mainly involved with pub quizzes are have they had experience of corporate or private events? Can a quiz be "tailor-made" for the customer's own company or family?
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I am an actor but also host events and quizzes. The experience of having things go wrong on stage is great training for thinking on one's feet and not being phased by any problems or mishaps. Quizzing is a great way of earning regularly when I'm not acting and is mainly in the evenings so that days are free for any auditions. I have found that I enjoy hosting events and it's a very useful skill to have.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
My most recent job from Add To Event was at a company fund raising evening. The company was supporting a local hospice and managed to raise a fantastic £4000!
The quiz teams were all very enthusiastic and were a great crowd of people with lots of banter and fun taking place during the evening.
I enjoyed hosting the event and I must say how pleasant it is to get paid for something that is so much fun!
