What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For my best quote, please let me know date and location (town or area is ok if the venue isn't confirmed), start and finish times and most importantly what style or genre of music you would like.
If you have details of the venue (inside / outside, what floor it's on) it's always good to know as much as possible.
Also, if there's anything particularly important which makes your event special to you, it's best to say as early as possible so we know we are able to provide the service you need.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Most importantly, it's about 2-way communication. Make sure you tell any service provider upfront what you want and never be afraid to ask questions. Remember, you are hiring someone for their expertise but it's still your event. Any reputable business will be happy to answer questions, advise you and guide you to the best solutions without putting pressure on you to accept anything you don't want. Lastly, speak to someone before booking. They may be perfect for you on paper but with so many services relating to events, personality can make or break it and you need to know that you can work with your service providers.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
When I was just 18, 27 years ago, my brother-in-law was a successful DJ who earned more contracts than he could service. He then trained me and got me started. I fell in love with DJing straight away. I went from strength to strength from then to university where I quickly established myself in the North-West as a sought-after club DJ in the mid-90s. After a brief break to enjoy the fruits of marriage and children, a chance encounter got me performing an 80s night in a local venue and the bug was back. Since then, I have re-invested in updating my equipment from vinyl to digital and have spent the last several years building a reputation as a party DJ specializing in retro classics - with a particular focus on 80s music...
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I'm relatively new to this platform but the first thing I noticed is that the sales pitch is not exaggerated. Several leads a day come through and there is a lot of opportunities to get a regular business. One booking I had was a surprise 50th birthday party recently. after several conversations with the host, I turned up and was treated almost like royalty by the family - with them not even allowing me to carry my own equipment (they sent several guys to help). I was fed and watered all night and repeatedly told how happy they were with the music I played.
If this is how all bookings are, I would heartily recommend Add to Event to any supplier as the quality and quantity of leads are beyond expectations.
