DJ Scott Dewing stil gets a buzz out of each and every events that he's involved in. Here he reveals what got him into the business and what you need to be aware of when booking a DJ or mobile disco for your event.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For me to supply my best quotation to a customer - I need as much information as possible. Not only can I ensure that my price is kept competitive but, I can also work out other ways in which I can help to ensure your special occasion goes exactly the way you want it to. What style of music are you hoping for? Will the event be held indoors or outdoors? How many microphones are required if more than one person requires them? Do you have any special requests?

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

If you're booking a DJ then in some way shape or form it's to celebrate someone or something - either way it needs to be customised to suit the person you are celebrating or the theme of the event taking place! Make sure you ask your potential supplier what experience they've had? Why they think they'll be suitable for your specific event? Why they feel you should book them over other suppliers? Asking these questions will separate the suppliers who feel they can really achieve what your goal is over those that want to cash in on a high volume of bookings.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I started my business as I got a real buzz from watching people dancing and then cheering at a particular song that was played. In the beginning I just DJ'd at Children's Birthdays. I then moved on to Birthday Parties, Weddings and then into the Bars & Clubs where I really developed the skills I now have as a DJ. Each and event is different and to this day I still get an incredible feeling knowing that I've made that occasion a success! Something that really sets me aside from the rest is being able to mix the tracks into each other as a Professional DJ rather than just pressing play to start the next track.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I've only been using Add To Event over the last few days as it was recommended to me recently. Already I've secured a booking and am currently in conversation with a few potential clients. I can already tell that Add To Event is going to be an asset to my business and I'll certainly be promoting this platform to other quality suppliers.
